Our ride from Eureka to Ely was the longest and most challenging yet with 4 summits and 77 miles. Yet we arrived in good spirits at the historic Hotel Nevada and Gambling House (Ely's tallest building - 6 floors - built in 1929). Today we spent our rest day doing laundry, grocery shopping, catching up on correspondence, and riding the historic "Ghost Train". We topped off our day with a Chinese dinner at Happy Garden where the owner's 3-yr-old daughter, Sunny, kept us entertained.
Today's "Shout outs" go to:
Diane Proud who's "running proud" tomorrow
Eric Darnell who is expanding his horizons
Tomorrow it's back in the saddles and off to Baker (population 24). Happy trails to you until we blog again!
All,
ReplyDeleteWe are really enjoying your Blog. In your honor, we rode our bikes to Eggcetra (sp?) for breakfast this morning. Didn't see nearly the scenery you've been enjoying. We rode by the Huntington house which looks shipshape. We envy you this adventure. Travel safely, Cheryl and Pat
In Cedar City the bike shop to go to is Bike Route! The guy fixed Patrick's broken back wheel in about 15 mins and charged only 5 bucks. James and Patrick.
ReplyDeletePS cycling from Ely to Milford in one day is not advisable. Especially when dark and cold.
