Day 2....... Great and not so great

We took the most amazing (when we could find it) trail all the way from the fun college town of Davis all the way to Folsom (as in prison.) The trail was wide, shaded, and mostly along the American River. Sightings included deer, wild turkey (a few butterballs), beautiful flowers, trees, and fennel that smelled amazing!

Then we hit Folsom. Suddenly, no more fun. Hotter than hockey sticks, windy roads with no shoulder and pick-up trucks grazing our elbows. Did I mention hills? How can you go from pancake to alp in two miles? This served as a tune up for tomorrow. Sixty miles of climbing...stay tuned.

Happy B-Day Barb Chamblin.

  1. Enjoy following the exploits of the group. Sad to hear of the unfriendly drivers in CA, which I always heard was a bike friendly environ. Glad you are prepping for the climb. Thinking of you today.
