BOULDER TO TORREY, UT, 9/17/10

After yesterday's tough climb in the afternoon, I think we were all a little fearful of this morning's 14 mile assent to the summit of Boulder Mountain. We stalled as long as we could, savoring a great breakfast at Hell's Backbone Grill. By 9:00 we could find no more excuses and hit the road. To our surprise and delight, the cool morning temperatures and having "fresh" legs made all the difference. We motored up the mountain in good form and good spirits. Tonight we're in Torrey, UT, where we've had the good fortune to meet a couple from Canada, Dennis and Donna Jones. Dennis and Debra (Bimbo 1) both have Parkinson's Disease and both remain active and having fun. When posing for our picture, Dennis laughed, "We'll shake together!" We also had the good fortune of having Margi's sister Marti Frueh join us tonight - our first visitor! Not only did we get Marti's great company, but she brought us a delicious dinner for tonight, dinner for tomorrow night in Hite, and breakfast for Hite (Hite Recreation Area has no food).

We also want to give a "shout out" to Barb and Ken Bridges on their 27th wedding anniversary! And to Max Harris who is back in Kansas City for a K-State Game. Sorry to miss seeing you, Max!

  1. Donna and Dennis Jones are my parents. They called and told me they had met Debra. So they asked me to look at this blog to see their photo. As they call me every night to update me on their adventures. What a great idea for a blog. Everyone looks great and sounds like your having fun.
